Probably one of the most, if not the most, anticipated titles of 2020 is Cyberpunk 2077. It has been on everyone’s radar for the past few months. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt creators, CD Projekt, are the minds behind the game and you can guarantee there’s going to be great RPG gameplay. While I wouldn’t compare the two titles, (that’d be comparing apples and oranges) you can expect some obvious parallels between the two, in terms of gameplay and mechanics.
So what is Cyberpunk 2077 and what features set it apart from other titles in the genre? Well, there’s plenty to go through. Let’s find out some basic things about the title and really see what there is to do.
‘Cyberpunk 2077’ – It Has Keanu Reeves
Perhaps one of the most obvious things Cyberpunk 2077 has going for it is Reeves. Keanu is one of the most beloved actors, and over the last year has been a symbol of memes and gratuity on social media. People love his films, from The Matrix to John Wick. More than his films though, people love Keanu as a person.
Reeves has notably donated entire paychecks to hospitals and charities. He is the guy every woman wants to be with, and what every other guy is jealous of. Having Keanu in your corner is an unbelievable asset for any team.
Not only is he a great guy, but it’s also reported that he loved working on this project so much that he asked to be in it more. According to the news on Cyberpunk 2077’s Steam page, they invited Reeves to come back and work more on the project. It sounds like a good deal to me.
‘Cyberpunk 2077’ – A Game For Adults?
One thing that seems to be confusing to parents is game ratings. Yes, they exist. There are games created for children, teens, everyone and even adults. Cyberpunk 2077 will be dealing with much mature-rated content. It will contain swearing and graphic nudity among the obvious violence.
It is even reported, again on their Steam page, that the sex scenes were created using motion capture technology. So yes, things are going to be pretty graphic in the fictional town of Night City.
Probably best to keep the young ones away from this one.
‘Cyberpunk 2077’ – Multiplayer, Yes It’s A Thing
With any game released nowadays, the first question out of anyone’s mouth is, “is there online?”. Even for solo centric RPG titles, everyone seems to want an online multiplayer (even where it doesn’t fit.).
Well, luckily for those gamers Cyberpunk 2077 is officially coming with multiplayer. Whether it will be available at launch or as an update later we’re not sure.
While this is officially announced, I think it’s safe to say it’s not CD Projekt’s number one priority. They’re creating a unique, role-playing experience through first-person and it is probably the last thing they will add. Gamers need to remember what it’s like to have the solo experience, such as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
While it is probably going to be one of the hottest games of 2020, the build-up has been anything but quiet. With superstar appearances by Keanu Reeves, and it’s adult-oriented content it’s no wonder people are excited.
Excited for a change of pace from normal triple-a titles that repeat the same thing year after year. Cyberpunk 2077 is expected for release on April 16th, on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Next-generation consoles, PS5 and Scarlett will probably see an edition as well when they launch.
